Crypto card for Duolingo: Super, Max and the English Test
Duolingo charges a card, not crypto, so the route is a virtual ExCards Visa or Mastercard topped up with any crypto. Super can be bought on the website; in the app you pay through your Apple ID on iPhone or Google Play on Android, and Max is sold only in the app. The English Test is paid by card on its own site. Which card fits Duolingo
All three cards pay online, pass 3D Secure and work with Apple Pay and Google Pay. A Duolingo subscription is a small recurring charge and the English Test is a single payment, so the fee on each payment matters most.

Super Duolingo on the website: Visa E-commerce. A monthly or yearly charge above $1 costs only the 3D Secure check, and the card has no daily or monthly cap.

The Duolingo English Test: any of the three cards. It is one payment: on Visa E-commerce it costs only the 3D Secure check, on Visa Universe and Mastercard Business $0.50.

What Duolingo's help center says
We read Duolingo's official help pages and the Duolingo English Test help center on 14.10.2026. We have not made test payments, so below is what Duolingo states, not our experience.
- Super is sold in the app and on the web. In the iOS or Android app you open the Shop and tap Get Super; on the website you click Shop, then Get Super, pick a plan and confirm. The platform where you subscribe is where you manage the subscription, and subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled. - App purchases go through Apple and Google. Cancellation is confirmed through the App Store or Google Play, refunds for iPhone subscriptions are handled by Apple, and Duolingo says it cannot access the App Store. - The English Test takes credit cards. The test is bought in your Duolingo English Test account; all major credit cards are accepted, and Alipay in China. After purchase you have 21 days to take the test, and the deadline cannot be extended. Duolingo's pages do not list which card types the Super web checkout takes. ExCards cards spend a balance you top up in advance; how Duolingo's payment processing classifies them, we do not know.
How to pay for Duolingo, step by step
- Issue the card. Sign up at app.excards.io, pass the light passport check and choose a card. The card price is paid once, at issuance. The virtual card is ready within 10 minutes after verification.
- Top up with any crypto. This is a separate step after the card is issued: send USDT, BTC, ETH or another supported coin to your deposit address. The first top-up is at least 10 USDT, and the top-up fee of your card is taken from each top-up. Put on the card a little more than the plan or the test costs.
- Pay where you buy. Super on the web: sign in at duolingo.com, open Shop, choose Get Super, pick a plan and pay with the card. Super or Max in the app: add the card to your Apple ID or Google Play account first, then buy in the app's Shop. English Test: sign in to your account on englishtest.duolingo.com and buy the test with the card. Enter the billing address you actually live at.
- Confirm the payment. If a 3D Secure window opens, complete it right away. Keep the subscription price on the card before each renewal date, and take the English Test within 21 days of buying it.

Do not press "pay" over and over. On Visa E-commerce a $0.80 surcharge applies if more than 10% of the card's payments are declined. If the price is in a currency other than USD, the issuer converts at its rate, which can include a markup of up to 2%. Where cards are available at all is on the geo restrictions page.

Can I pay for Duolingo with crypto?
Not directly: Duolingo, Apple and Google charge a card. You top up an ExCards card with crypto and pay with the card, on the website, in the app through your Apple ID or Google Play, or on the English Test site. Whether a particular payment goes through is decided by the payment checks and card processing, so no card can promise it.
Which ExCards card is best for Super Duolingo?

Why can't I buy Duolingo Max on the website?
Duolingo sells Max only in the iOS and Android apps, and a web subscription cannot be upgraded to Max. To get Max, add the card to your Apple ID or Google Play account and buy it in the app.
I subscribed on my iPhone. Where do I change the card?
In your Apple ID, not on Duolingo: in-app subscriptions on iPhone are billed and refunded by Apple, and Duolingo says it cannot access the App Store. On Android the same applies to Google Play.
How do I pay for the Duolingo English Test?
Buy the test in your account on the Duolingo English Test site. Duolingo accepts all major credit cards, and you then have 21 days to take the test. Refunds, where they apply, go only to the original payment method.
