Crypto card for the App Store: pay apps, iCloud+ and Apple Music
Apple charges the payment method in your Apple Account, so the route is a virtual ExCards Visa or Mastercard topped up with any crypto. For iCloud+, Apple Music and app subscriptions, Visa E-commerce usually fits: payments from $1 carry no authorization fee. Add the card in Settings, your name, Payment & Shipping, with a billing address in your account's country.
Which card fits the App Store
All three cards pay online, pass 3D Secure and work with Apple Pay. Apple purchases are usually small and recurring, so the fee on each payment matters more than the limits.
| Visa Universe | Visa E-commerce | Mastercard Business | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Card price (one-time, at issuance) | 29 USDT | 35 USDT | 50 USDT |
| Top-up fee | 2% | 3.5% | 3.5% |
| Fee per payment of $1 and more | $0.50 | None, only $0.03 per 3D Secure check | $0.50, 3D Secure included |
| Fee per payment under $1 | $0.50 | $0.10 | $0.50 |
| Online payments and 3D Secure | Yes | Yes | Yes |
| Apple Pay and Google Pay | Yes | Yes | Yes |
iCloud+, Apple Music, app subscriptions: Visa E-commerce. A monthly charge of $1 or more costs only the 3D Secure check, and even a cheap in-app purchase under $1 costs $0.10, not $0.50.
The same card also covers big spending elsewhere: Visa Universe. Its top-up fee is 2% against 3.5%, but every Apple charge then costs $0.50, which is a lot on a small subscription.
None of this guarantees that a payment is approved. That decision belongs to Apple's checks and card processing.
What Apple's help pages say
We read Apple's official support pages on 10.10.2026. We have not made test purchases in the App Store, so below is what Apple states, not our experience.
- One payment method for everything Apple. Apps, iCloud+, Apple Music and other Apple subscriptions are paid with the payment method in your Apple Account. Source: Payment methods that you can use with your Apple Account, checked 10.10.2026.
- Cards, by country. The list of accepted methods depends on the country or region of the Apple Account. "Most credit and debit cards" appear for almost every country; prepaid and virtual cards are not mentioned either way. An ExCards card spends the balance you topped up in advance. Source: Payment methods that you can use with your Apple Account, checked 10.10.2026.
- Country and billing address. When you change the account's country or region, Apple asks you to choose a payment method and enter payment information and a billing address for the new country, and warns that you might need a valid payment method from it. Before the change you have to spend the account balance and cancel subscriptions that block it. Source: Change your Apple Account country or region, checked 10.10.2026.
- Where to add a card. On iPhone: Settings, tap your name, Payment & Shipping, Add Payment Method. Source: If you need to change or update your Apple Account payment method, checked 10.10.2026.
- Declines. Apple suggests adding a different payment method, checking for an unpaid order and asking the card issuer to allow international purchases. Apple says it cannot tell you why a payment was declined, and that in some countries methods are declined because of local law. Source: If your payment method is declined in the App Store or iTunes Store, checked 10.10.2026.
How to pay for the App Store, step by step
- Issue the card. Sign up at app.excards.io, pass the light passport check and choose a card. The card price is paid once, at issuance. The virtual card is ready within 10 minutes after verification.
- Top up with any crypto. This is a separate step after the card is issued: send USDT, BTC, ETH or another supported coin to your deposit address. The first top-up is at least 10 USDT, and the top-up fee of your card is taken from each top-up. Keep a little more on the card than the subscriptions you pay for in a month.
- Add the card to your Apple Account. On iPhone open Settings, tap your name, then Payment & Shipping and Add Payment Method. Enter the card number, expiry date and CVC, and a billing address you actually live at, in the country of your Apple Account. If an old card keeps failing, remove it so Apple charges the new one.
- Confirm the payment. If a 3D Secure window opens, complete it right away. After that, iCloud+, Apple Music and app subscriptions renew from this card while there is money on it.
Common declines and what to do
| What you see | Likely reason | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| "Payment method declined" on the first purchase | Balance below the charge: on Visa Universe and Mastercard Business each payment also costs $0.50 | Top up with a margin and try once more |
| Apple mentions an unpaid order | An earlier charge, often a renewal, did not go through | Top up the card, pay the order in your Apple Account, then buy again |
| Error about the billing address | The address is not in the country of your Apple Account | Enter your real address; if you live in another country, change the account country first |
| Payment stuck, then declined | The 3D Secure check was not finished or timed out | Retry and complete the confirmation without closing the window |
| A renewal failed overnight | Less money on the card than the subscription | Keep at least one month of subscriptions on the card |
| The card is refused whatever you do | Apple's checks did not accept this card | Stop retrying, try another of the three cards or write to @excards_bot |
Do not press "pay" over and over. On Visa E-commerce a $0.80 surcharge applies if more than 10% of the card's payments are declined. If the price is not in US dollars, the issuer converts at its rate, which can include a markup of up to 2%. Where cards are available at all is on the geo restrictions page.
Frequently asked questions
Can I pay for the App Store with crypto?
Not directly: Apple charges the payment method in your Apple Account. You top up an ExCards card with crypto and add the card to the account. Apple lists most credit and debit cards as accepted; whether a particular card goes through is decided by Apple and card processing, so no card can promise it.
Which ExCards card is best for iCloud+ and Apple Music?
Usually Visa E-commerce: payments from $1 carry no authorization fee, only $0.03 for a 3D Secure check, and a purchase under $1 costs $0.10. The card has no daily or monthly cap.
Does the billing address have to be in my Apple Account country?
Apple ties the available payment methods to the country or region of the Apple Account, and when you change that country it asks for payment information and a billing address for the new one. Enter the address you really live at. If it is in another country, change the account country first: Apple asks you to spend the balance and cancel blocking subscriptions before that.
Why does Apple say I have an unpaid order?
Apple names an unpaid order as one of the reasons a payment method is declined. Usually it is a subscription renewal that failed because the card balance was too low. Top up the card, pay the order in your Apple Account, then try the purchase again.
Can I add the card through Apple Pay instead?
All three ExCards cards work with Apple Pay, and in some countries Apple lists Apple Pay as a payment method for the Apple Account. Either way, the money comes from the same card balance, so the same rules on balance and fees apply.
Is identity verification needed to get the card?
Yes. KYC is required for every ExCards card: a light passport check by the card issuer partner plus sanctions screening. The virtual card is issued within 10 minutes after verification is approved.
