Crypto card for Meta and Google Ads: pay for your own ads

Meta and Google Ads charge a card, not a crypto wallet. A virtual ExCards Visa or Mastercard topped up with any crypto does that job. For a small budget with frequent threshold charges, Visa E-commerce usually fits: charges from $1 carry no authorization fee. On Google Ads, choose prepay where offered. Keep the balance above your threshold.

Which card fits your ad account

This page is for people who run ads for their own shop, app, channel or client work and need a card the ad platform can charge. Ad billing is not one monthly payment: Meta and Google charge every time your costs reach a threshold, so the fee per payment matters as much as the top-up fee.

A small budget with frequent charges: Visa E-commerce. Charges from $1 carry no authorization fee, so several threshold charges a week cost only the 3D Secure checks, and the card has no daily or monthly cap.

A steady budget of several hundred dollars a month: Visa Universe. The top-up fee is 2% against 3.5%, which outweighs the flat $0.50 when charges are few and large.

A company paying for ads and other expenses: Mastercard Business, if you also want offline payments and higher limits.

None of this guarantees that a payment is approved. Meta, Google and card processing decide on each charge.

What Meta's and Google's help centers say

We read the official help pages of Meta and Google Ads on 10.10.2026. We have not made test payments to either platform, so below is what they state, not our experience.

Meta ads (Facebook and Instagram)

Google Ads

Our reading: on Google Ads, the prepay setting matches a card that spends a balance topped up in advance. Whether prepay is offered depends on your billing country and currency.

How to pay for ads, step by step

  1. Issue the card. Sign up at app.excards.io, pass the light passport check and choose a card. The card price is paid once, at issuance. The virtual card is ready within 10 minutes after verification.
  2. Top up with any crypto. This is a separate step after the card is issued: send USDT, BTC, ETH or another supported coin to your deposit address. The first top-up is at least 10 USDT, and the top-up fee of your card is taken from each top-up. Keep more on the card than your payment threshold or prepay amount.
  3. Add the card to the ad account. Meta: open Billing & payments, then Payment settings (or pick the ad account and open Payment methods), click Add payment method and enter the card. Google Ads: open Billing, then Settings, and under Payment methods choose Add a payment method. Enter the address you actually live at.
  4. Confirm the payment. If a 3D Secure window or a one-time code appears, complete it right away. On Google Ads prepay, make the first payment before the campaign starts.

Common declines and what to do

What you seeLikely reasonWhat to do
Meta ads paused, account shows an unpaid balanceA threshold charge failed: the balance was below the threshold, plus $0.50 on Visa Universe and Mastercard BusinessTop up, then in Billing & payments open Payment methods and click Pay now
Google Ads will not take the card for automatic paymentsGoogle does not accept prepaid cards for postpayUse prepay if it is offered for your country and currency
Card refused when you add itToo little on the balance for the temporary hold, or the one-time code was not enteredTop up with a margin and add the card once more, keeping the confirmation window open
Payment stuck, then declinedThe 3D Secure check was not finished or timed outRetry and complete the confirmation without closing the window
Charges are bigger or more frequent than expectedThe threshold rose after successful payments, or costs reached it several times in a monthWatch the threshold in billing settings and keep more than one charge on the card
The card is refused whatever you doThe platform's checks did not accept this cardStop retrying, try another of the three cards or write to @excards_bot

Do not press "pay" over and over. On Visa E-commerce a $0.80 surcharge applies if more than 10% of the card's payments are declined. If the ad account currency is not USD, the issuer converts each charge at its rate, which can include a markup of up to 2%. Where cards are available at all is on the geo restrictions page.

Frequently asked questions

Can I pay for Facebook and Instagram ads with a crypto card?

Meta charges a card or another accepted method, not a crypto wallet. You top up an ExCards card with crypto and add the card in Billing and payments. Meta lists credit and debit cards from Visa, Mastercard and other networks; prepaid cards are not mentioned. Whether a charge is approved is decided by Meta and card processing.

Does Google Ads accept prepaid or virtual cards?

According to Google, prepaid cards are not accepted for postpay, where Google charges after ads run. One-time-use virtual cards with a Visa or Mastercard logo are accepted for prepay. So a card that spends a balance topped up in advance fits prepay, where it is offered for your country and currency.

Why does Meta charge my card several times a month?

Meta charges whenever your ad costs reach the payment threshold, and again on the monthly bill date. New accounts start with a small threshold that may rise after successful payments, so several charges a month are normal.

Which ExCards card fits a small ad budget?

Usually Visa E-commerce: charges from $1 carry no authorization fee, only $0.03 for a 3D Secure check, and there is no daily or monthly cap. For a steady budget of several hundred dollars a month, Visa Universe with its 2% top-up fee can cost less.

What happens if a Meta ad payment fails?

Meta pauses the ads and disables the ad account until the amount due is paid. Top up the card, then open Billing and payments, Payment methods and click Pay now.

Is identity verification needed to get the card?

Yes. KYC is required for every ExCards card: a light passport check by the card issuer partner plus sanctions screening. The virtual card is issued within 10 minutes after verification is approved.
