Pay for Discord Nitro with crypto: a virtual card for Nitro and the Shop
Discord does not list crypto among its payment methods: it takes credit or debit cards, PayPal, Apple Pay and Google Pay. So you top up a virtual ExCards Visa or Mastercard with any crypto and add it in User Settings, Billing. For a Nitro subscription Visa E-commerce usually fits: payments from $1 carry no authorization fee.
Which card fits Discord Nitro
All three cards pay online, pass 3D Secure and work with Apple Pay and Google Pay. For Nitro, Server Boosts and Shop items the payments are small, so the fee on each payment matters most.

Nitro or Nitro Basic, monthly or yearly: Visa E-commerce. A renewal above $1 costs only the 3D Secure check, so a small subscription is not eaten by a flat fee.
Several small purchases, like Shop items and Boosts: also Visa E-commerce. On Visa Universe and Mastercard Business every payment costs $0.50, which is a lot next to a few dollars.

None of this guarantees that a payment is approved. That decision belongs to Discord's payment checks and card processing.
What Discord's help center says
We read Discord's official help articles on 18.10.2026. We have not made test payments to Discord, so below is what Discord states, not our experience.
- Payment methods. Available globally: credit or debit card, PayPal, Apple Pay and Google Pay; some countries also have local methods such as Pix, iDEAL or Paysafecard. - Billing address must match. The "Billing address is invalid" error means the address on the card in Discord doesn't match the one the card issuer has on file; you fix it in User Settings, Billing, Edit. Source: Managing Subscriptions and Billing FAQ, checked 18.10.2026.
- Temporary holds and prepaid methods. Discord may place a temporary hold when you buy something or start a trial or promotion, and reverses it right away. Prepaid payment methods can't be used to cover such holds, so a promo link can show "This payment source cannot be used for redemption". Source: Why do I see a Temporary Hold, checked 18.10.2026.
- A failed renewal is not the end. If a renewal payment fails, the subscription is past due: bought on desktop, you have 30 days from the renewal date to pay and keep the perks meanwhile. - Price currency depends on the card. Local prices need a payment method from a country where Discord offers them; otherwise Discord charges in USD. Source: Localized Pricing on Discord, checked 18.10.2026.
- Discord gift cards are US-only for now. They are sold at select online retailers in the United States and can only be redeemed in the country they were bought in. Source: Discord Gift Cards, checked 18.10.2026.
If you buy Nitro inside the iPhone or Android app, the subscription is managed and charged by the App Store or Google Play, not by Discord. In that case the card is added there: see paying the App Store and paying Google Play.
How to pay for Discord Nitro, step by step
- Issue the card. Sign up at app.excards.io, pass the light passport check and choose a card. The card price is paid once, at issuance. The virtual card is ready within 10 minutes after verification.
- Top up with any crypto. This is a separate step after the card is issued: send USDT, BTC, ETH or another supported coin to your deposit address. The first top-up is at least 10 USDT, and the top-up fee of your card is taken from each top-up. Keep a little more on the card than one renewal.
- Add the card to Discord. On desktop or in a browser open User Settings, then Billing, select Add Payment Method and enter the card with your real billing address. For an existing subscription choose the card in User Settings, Subscriptions, under "Pay for it with".
- Buy Nitro and confirm. If a 3D Secure window opens, complete it right away. Renewals then charge the same card while there is money on it; on your statement they show as DISCORD followed by the item name.

Do not press "pay" over and over. On Visa E-commerce a $0.80 surcharge applies if more than 10% of the card's payments are declined, and payments under $1 carry a $0.10 authorization fee. If Discord charges in a local currency, the card issuer converts at its rate, which can include a markup of up to 2%. The usual reasons are a billing address that doesn't match the card, a balance below the price, an unfinished 3D Secure check, or a promo that needs a temporary hold. Check the address, top up with a margin and confirm 3D Secure on the first attempt.
What happens if my Nitro renewal fails?
The subscription becomes past due. For a desktop purchase Discord gives 30 days from the renewal date to pay, keeps your perks meanwhile and retries the charge. Top up the card within that time.
Is identity verification needed to get the card?
