Crypto card for Midjourney: how to pay your subscription
Midjourney takes card payments through Stripe and charges in US dollars only, so you top up a virtual ExCards Visa or Mastercard with any crypto and subscribe on midjourney.com. Visa E-commerce usually fits: payments from $1 carry no authorization fee. Before checkout, switch to Monthly Billing if you do not want to pay for a year upfront.
Which card fits Midjourney
All three cards pay online, pass 3D Secure and work with Apple Pay and Google Pay. For a Midjourney plan the difference is the fee on each payment and each top-up.
| Visa Universe | Visa E-commerce | Mastercard Business | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Card price (one-time, at issuance) | 29 USDT | 35 USDT | 50 USDT |
| Top-up fee | 2% | 3.5% | 3.5% |
| Fee per payment (authorization) | $0.50 flat | Free from $1, plus $0.03 per 3D Secure check | $0.50 flat, 3D Secure included |
| Online payments and 3D Secure | Yes | Yes | Yes |
| Apple Pay and Google Pay | Yes | Yes | Yes |
| Limit per payment | $1,000,000 | $20,000 | $250,000 |
A monthly or yearly plan: Visa E-commerce. The charge costs only the 3D Secure check, and even the largest yearly plan is far below the $20,000 per-payment limit.
Midjourney plus several other services: Visa Universe, if you top up larger amounts and want the lowest top-up fee, 2%.
A team plan paid by a company: Mastercard Business, if you also want offline payments and higher limits for other company spending.
None of this guarantees approval. The decision belongs to Midjourney's payment processor and card processing.
What Midjourney's help center says
We read Midjourney's official billing help on 10.10.2026. We have not made test payments to Midjourney, so this is what Midjourney states, not our experience.
- Cards through Stripe. Midjourney uses Stripe, so only payment methods Stripe accepts work: generally major credit and debit cards such as Visa, Mastercard and American Express, plus some wallets including Apple Pay and Google Pay in some regions. PayPal is not supported. You see the options available to you at checkout. Source: Accepted Payment Methods, checked 10.10.2026.
- US dollars only. Payments are accepted only in USD. Source: Payment Currency, checked 10.10.2026.
- Yearly billing is the default. On the Manage Subscription page the yearly option is selected, and the full year is paid upfront; click the Monthly Billing tab to pay each month. Source: How to Subscribe, checked 10.10.2026.
- Billing address and limits. The billing address must match what the card issuer has on file; enough funds and no card spending limit hit. Source: Unsuccessful Payments, checked 10.10.2026.
- Failed renewal. The plan is marked Paused, payment is retried several times over several days, and the subscription is cancelled if none succeed. Source: Fixing a Paused Plan, checked 10.10.2026.
- Plan prices start at $10 a month for Basic. Source: Comparing Midjourney Plans, checked 10.10.2026.
How to pay for Midjourney, step by step
- Issue the card. Sign up at app.excards.io, pass the light passport check and choose a card. The card price is paid once, at issuance. The virtual card is ready within 10 minutes after verification.
- Top up with any crypto. A separate step after issuance: send USDT, BTC, ETH or another supported coin to your deposit address. The first top-up is at least 10 USDT, and the card's top-up fee is taken from each top-up. Put a little more on the card than the plan you picked.
- Subscribe on midjourney.com. Sign in, open the Manage Subscription page (midjourney.com/account), choose Monthly Billing or keep yearly, press Subscribe under the plan, and enter the card number, expiry date, CVC and your real billing address in the Stripe checkout. Check the billing email: it goes on the invoice and cannot be changed later without support.
- Confirm the payment. If a 3D Secure window opens, complete it. A successful payment always ends with an email containing the receipt and invoice.
To change the card later: Manage Subscription, Edit Billing, then + Add payment method in the billing portal (Midjourney's guide).
Common declines and what to do
| What you see | Likely reason | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Card declined at checkout | Balance below the plan price: on Visa Universe and Mastercard Business each payment also costs $0.50 | Top up with a margin and try once more |
| Charged more than expected | Yearly billing was selected by default | Pick Monthly Billing before you press Subscribe |
| Pending charge, no subscription | The payment was declined; the hold disappears on its own | Check the cause below, then retry once |
| Declined with correct card details | The billing address does not match, or the 3D Secure check was not finished | Enter your real address, retry and complete the confirmation |
| Plan shows Paused | The renewal failed for lack of funds | Top up, then update the card with Edit Billing |
| Refused whatever you do | The processor did not accept this card | Stop retrying, try another of the three cards or write to @excards_bot |
Do not press "pay" over and over. On Visa E-commerce a $0.80 surcharge applies if more than 10% of the card's payments are declined. Because Midjourney charges in USD, the issuer's currency conversion with its markup of up to 2% should not apply. Where the cards can be used is on the geo restrictions page.
Frequently asked questions
Can I pay for Midjourney with a crypto card?
Midjourney charges a card through Stripe, not a crypto wallet. You top up an ExCards Visa or Mastercard with any crypto and pay with the card. Midjourney's help lists major credit and debit cards such as Visa and Mastercard. Whether a payment is approved is decided by Midjourney's payment processor and card processing, so no card can promise it.
Which ExCards card is best for Midjourney?
Visa E-commerce usually fits: payments from $1 carry no authorization fee, only $0.03 for a 3D Secure check, and even a yearly plan stays well under its $20,000 per-payment limit. Visa Universe has the lowest top-up fee, 2%, if you top up larger amounts for several services.
Does Midjourney charge in dollars?
Yes. Midjourney accepts payments only in US dollars. The card issuer applies currency conversion only when a merchant charges in a currency other than USD, so the markup of up to 2% should not apply to a Midjourney payment.
Why is my Midjourney plan marked as Paused?
Paused means the renewal payment failed. Midjourney retries the payment several times over several days and cancels the subscription if none of the attempts work. Top up the card and update the payment method with Edit Billing on the Manage Subscription page.
I see a pending charge but no subscription. Did I pay?
According to Midjourney, a declined payment often shows as a pending transaction that disappears on its own. A successful payment always comes with an email containing the receipt and invoice. No email means the payment did not go through.
Is identity verification needed to get the card?
Yes. KYC is required for every ExCards card: a light passport check by the card issuer partner plus sanctions screening. The virtual card is issued within 10 minutes after verification is approved.
